The discovery of Nobue Ibaraki's work was for us the revelation of a new gem. In the Japanese world of ceramics, open mainly to men, we were finally discovering a true feminine approach to pottery.

Nobue Ibaraki's work is instantly recognisable by its formal orientation : curves and circles, equality of play between void and solid, as illustrated by the handles on her jugs. Her attention is essentially focused on containers and responds to the circulation of liquids : bottles, widely opened jugs, beakers. Water is never very far from her creations, it irrigates all her work : traces of rust telling the passage of time, chromatic range of the seabed.  In the work of Nobue Ibaraki, there is Water and dreams, as Bachelard would have said, but also earth and fire and a reverie of lost origins.
