Shun Kumagai's works are based on a technique of casting molten materials - glass, earth and metals. Although their production process is a kind of magic, as the phenomenon remains hidden from view in a 1000°C kiln, it requires many operations before revealing the final shape of each piece. For Shun Kumagai, this series of gestures resembles a prayer. The result is pieces of murky beauty and telluric, almost chaotic, strength.
